Which nutrients matter for muscle and gym performance?

Vitamin D has a direct role in normal muscle function and bone health. A deficient athlete has something worth correcting; taking increasingly high doses once status is adequate is not a substitute for progressive training.

Iron, B12 and folate support normal red-blood-cell production and oxygen transport. Deficiency can make training feel disproportionately hard, but iron supplementation should follow appropriate advice and, where symptoms exist, testing. Do multivitamins help with weight loss?

Safety: where higher doses can become a problem
