First, which Huel powder are we talking about?

Huel uses similar names for products built for different jobs. Complete Protein is the 105-calorie protein powder with 20g of protein per 29g serving. Huel Black Edition is a 400-calorie meal with 40g of protein. If you only want to add protein to breakfast or a post-gym shake, Complete Protein is the relevant product; if you want lunch in a shaker, it is not a substitute for a meal.

The Complete Protein formula uses pea, faba and hemp protein, and Huel adds 26 vitamins and minerals. Those extras distinguish it from a simple whey powder, although they are not a reason to buy nutrients you already get through food.

Where Huel earns its place

The strongest reason to choose Complete Protein is not that it wins a cheapest-protein contest.
